The Business Brickyard Podcast
Oh no! Not ANOTHER business podcast! Wellllll…yes...and no.
I think there are more than enough business interview podcasts where the host asks the guest for all of their secrets to their incredible success.
This is not going to be that.
As a teacher at heart, I want to take everything I have learned over the past 34 years of my career and deliver to you concise lessons about business, strategy and life.
Lessons I have learned, often the hard way, owning, leading and advising businesses for decades.
After decades of talking, strategizing, pushing, prodding, worrying, arguing, debating, marketing, selling, hiring, firing, financing and celebrating business owners I have learned that far too many entrepreneurs are suffering against expectations that are not helping them build businesses that are truly meaningful to their lives.
They’re not meaningful to their market, their clients, their staff and, most importantly, not meaningful to the lives they truly want to live.
THIS podcast is meant to be an alternative to the rah rah entrepreneur bullshit that is so prevalent today. From books, keynotes and endless news stories about how entrepreneurship is this super risky and dangerous stress-filled journey all done for the sole purpose of hitting it big someday.
There is far too much worshipping of the tiny few companies that stumble into millions and billions and make everyone think they are a failure if they do not attain massive growth and scale.
THIS podcast is for business owners who love to operate their businesses. Even more, it is for those who used to love their business and now…not so much.
The ones who started their business because they had a passion to create something great but, somewhere along the way, the pressure to grow at all costs buried what is awesome about their business and sapped them of their passion and maybe even their smile.
If you will allow me, I would like to be your teacher, coach, sherpa and cheerleader so your business can get back to what excites you. A business that does fewer things but does them better than anyone else. A business that allows you to have fun, make money and do some good.
To me, that is what business should be so that is what The Business Brickyard and this podcast is all about.
Just like any new venture, I will be figuring this out as I go. I hope you’ll join me on this journey, subscribe wherever you listen to your podcasts, share your feedback AND your stories with me.
Now… Let’s get to work!!
